Utah State Parks
The Utah State Parks office manages lands with outstanding scenic, recreational, cultural, or historic values. In addition, the office coordinates the development of recreational trails and riverways, by offering grants for planning, acquisition and development. Educational programs include Take Pride in Utah (lesson plans, K-6), Personal Watercraft Education Program, and interpretive programs throughout the season at various facilities.
Utah State Parks is developing Soldier Hollow, at Wasatch Mountain State Park, as an Olympic venue. The agency is cooperating with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee to provide security and visitor services throughout the event.

Utah Wildlife & Waterfowl Management Areas
The state of Utah operates hatcheries to support lake and stream fisheries. Wildlife areas and game refuges are set aside for the propagation and protection of game species. Hunting, fishing, boating, OHV use, and other recreational activities are usually allowed on these lands. The Utah Depatment of Wildlife Resources and the Utah Natural Heritage Program have been extremely successful in managing habitats and populations for native populations, including restoration for sensitive species such as the bighorn sheep, mexican spotted owls, and the sharp-tailed grouse. Educational programs include Becoming an Outdoors Woman, Project WILD, Aquatic Resource Education, Hunter Education, and Watchable Wildlife.

Utah State Trust Lands
7,475,297 acres were granted to Utah by the Federal Government on the occasion of its statehood. Today, 3.5 million acres of land (about 7% of the state), and 4.5 million acres of mineral rights are held by the Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration.
The Federal Enabling Act and State Constitution mandate that fair market value must be obtained from all Trust land transactions which include sales-- trust lands are the primary source of new real estate in Utah-- and commercial leasing. All revenues derived from the sale of Trust lands are placed in the Permanent Fund, which is administered by the State Treasurer, and revenues from commercial leases are paid directly to the designated beneficiaries. Trust beneficiaries include the public schools, colleges, hospitals, charitable institutions, and specialized schools.

Utah State Forests and Soveriegn Lands
The agency optimizes the benefits from ecosystem based, multiple-use management of resources held in the public trust. The Trust's diversity of lands has always been its most valuable resource. This is reflected in the unique properties offered for sale and/or commercial lease. Leasing categories include grazing, agriculture, mineral, mineral material, exploration, and apiary. Other areas of natural resource administration include water sales, mineral material sales, water rights administration, trespass, environmental contamination, and cultural resources. Some of these lands are open to hunting and other recreation with the appropriate permits.
