Welcome to the New Mexico Public Lands Information Center
From scrubby deserts in the south to the tall ponderosa forests of the northern mountains, New Mexico offers a rich variety of scenery and a multitude of recreational activities. Along with these natural riches, the Land of Enchantment is famous as a cultural crossroads where ancient Indian pueblos and centuries-old Hispanic villages exist side by side with space-age technology centers.
More than 45% of New Mexico is in public ownership. You can explore our state's public lands on this website or at the New Mexico Public Lands Information Center, 301 Dinosaur Trail, Santa Fe, NM, 87508. We are open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mountain Time.
Either on the website or at the Public Lands Information Center, you'll discover detailed information about recreational opportunities for more than 300 public land sites throughout New Mexico. You can also purchase books, maps, and other educational items to make your virtual or real visit truly rewarding.
To begin your journey, click on Recreation Search to your left. To speak with us in person please call 505-954-2002 or toll-free at 877-276-9404. You can always e-mail our staff with questions by clicking on COMMENTS at the bottom of this page. We try to respond to questions within 24 hours.
