Description: Mixed conifer/aspen forest sites at 9000ft provide southern NM escape from summer heat on the desert floor. 24 tent,trailer/RV sites at Apache and 16 tent,trailer/RV sites at Saddle. Hiking trail access is near Silver CG. Nature trail nearby. Scenic driving area roads. Wildlife viewing possible. The mountains near Capitan are known as the birthplace of the world-famous Smokey Bear. Hunting for black bear, elk and deer in the Capitan and White Mountains.
