Swan Lake Campground, Montana
View Vicinity Map    Recommended Maps & Books    Share With a Friend
Description: 3066-foot elevation. 42 campsites on 2680-acre Swan Lake. Fishing for cutthroat, rainbow, bull, and brook trout, kokanee salmon, and pike, with some catch-and-release restrictions. Waterskiing, boating and swimming are the other popular water-based activities. Should the thrill of the water pall, head east on one the many spur trails which access the long, remote Alpine Trail. Alternately, head south toward the Swan River National Wildlife Refuge to see if you can glimpse the bald eagles, waterfowl, bobcats, deer, elk, moose, or bears who live in the secluded habitat.

This is grizzly country! Keep yourself and the bears out of trouble by bear safe camping: keep your camp clean of food and garbage which would tempt the bruins.

Location: From Bigfork, go north 3 miles on MT-35, then south 19 miles on MT-83.
