FIRE RESTRICTIONS: This site is OPEN but under Stage I wildfire restrictions.

Description: 6970ft elevation.Located in tall trees this group camping or picnicking site requires reservations and fees. 3 group camping areas(10-100 people). 2 pods(Simmons & Ernst) can be reseved together(100 people maximum). 1 pod(Spooner) holds 10-50 people tent camping. Hiking, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing will keep everyone occupied. The Coconino National Forest is one of the most diverse National Forests in the country with landscapes ranging from the famous Red Rocks of Sedona to Ponderosa Pine Forests, to alpine tundra. Explore mountains and canyons, fish forest lakes and wade in lazy creeks and streams. Birdwatching for hawks and blad eagles and wildlife watching. Hunting for antelope, black bear, elk, turkey, and white tail deer. Nearby hunting for bison. Mountain biking, hot-air ballooning and horseback riding. Explore nearby ancient ruins and ancient lava craters.
