Description: 24,100 acres in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument protects a fragile transitional ecosystem, where the eastern desert meets the lush forests of the Cascades. This biologically unique area contains several rare species, as well familiar animals such Roosevelt elk, mountain lions, black bears, and birds of prey.
The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail cuts through the northern part of this wilderness.
Location: From Ashland, go south on OR 66 to the turnoff for Soda Mountain. This road penetrates the wilderness and also coincides with the Pacific Crest NST for some distance.
