FIRE RESTRICTIONS: This site is OPEN but under Stage I wildfire restrictions.

Description: 1400ft elevation. This year round picnic site with 20 ramadas and tables is a winter camping area(October 15 - April 15) on the Lower Salt River. Great for birdwatching in this lush riparian area. Is a popular tubing take-out point during warmer months. Camping, picnicking, wildlife viewing, swimming, fishing, tubing,and rafting. The Larry Forbis Day Use Group Area is located at the back end of Pebble Beach near the Lower Salt River. It has 3 ramadas with tables, grills, fire pits, and toilet. Area holds 15-16 cars and reservations are required. Call the Ranger District.During winter months, mild weather attracts residents and tourists to beautiful lakes along multi-hued desert canyons. Nearby, boating and lake fishing for rainbow and brown trout, walleye, bass, and crappie. Opportunities for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking the rugged terrain in the Tonto Forest. Birdwatching and wildlife watching for hawks, eagles, javalina, white tail deer and coyotes, particularly near the Mogollon Rim and the area's many lakes and rivers.

Location: 20 miles northeast of Mesa. From Mesa go 7 miles east on US 60 to Power Road(Bush Highway)/FR 204, then north for 13 miles to FR 169, then west 1 mile.
