Located near Grants, New Mexico, the 378,000-acre El Malpais is one of the youngest lava flows in the US. El Malpais includes the 263,000-acre National Recreation Area managed by the BLM and the 115,000 El Malpais National Monument managed by the National Park Service. The 1:100,000 scale map shows land status, Continental Divide Trail, Chain of Craters Back Country Byway, and the Cebolla and West Malpais Wilderness Areas.
