BLM Cleanup for National Public Lands Day

On September 23rd, join PLIA and the NM Bureau of Land Management to give back to public lands! For National Public Lands Day, help the BLM clean up illegal dumpsites in Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) along NM-68 north of Española.

These beautiful areas are given special protections to preserve the natural and cultural resources located within. Unfortunately, many individuals find these BLM lands a suitable spot to dispose of garbage.

The BLM will meet with volunteers at the entrance to the Palacio Area of Critical Environmental Concern at 9:00 in the morning. From there, teams will be formed to clean up specific dump sites on BLM lands. The BLM is providing direction, protective equipment, and cleanup supplies. Volunteers should be prepared with food/water, and transportation to get to different sites.

The entrance to Palacio ACEC is located immediately north of Alcalde Elementary School, turning east off of NM-68. Find directions here

If you're interested, show up at the event on Saturday. You can reach out to the BLM Taos Field Office by Friday for details: 575-758-8851
