From Cle Elum travel north to explore Teanaway State Forest, and Wenatchee National Forest with opportunities for camping, hiking, and winter sports. Teanaway Forest activities include camping, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and OHV use. South of Cle Elum and west of Ellensburg is another national forest section plus an adjacent section of Lt. Murray State Wildlife Area both with campgrounds and hiking trails. From Wenatchee travel south to explore Naneum Ridge State Forest, Colockum State Wildlife Area, and Lt. Murray State Wildlife Area, all with opportunities for camping, hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding.
