Description: 4780-foot elevation. The area includes 5071 acres of wetland, upland, and riparian habitat. All the water comes from natural springs and artesian wells buried beneath the igneous rock. The wetlands are interspersed with desert uplands, identified by the saltgrass, sagebrush, and rabbit brush. Waterfowl is encouraged with nesting and brooding areas, loafing areas, and food and cover sites. Several thousands white-faced ibis nest in the impoundment areas. Small grain crops are grown to feed deer, waterfowl, wintering elk, and the upland game birds. Species which nest here include, owls, hawks, ibis, ducks, geese, pheasant, sage grouse, partridge and songbirds. Big game include moose, elk, while-tailed and mule deer. Hiking, horse riding, wildlife viewing, and picnicking opportunities. Hunting in season includes captive raised pheasants.
