Description: Douglas-fir, western hemlock and western redcedar are the predominant conifers in this forest. Big leaf maple and red alder are the predominant hardwoods.

The Elliot State Forest has been managed for timber production, among other uses, for over a century. Because it was found to be home to the endangered northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet, as well as the threatened coho salmon, (and many other threatened and endangered species), it is now being more actively managed for wildlife habitat.

Location: The Elliott State Forest is located in the south central Oregon Coast Range, near Reedsport and Coos Bay.   Latitude: 43.459493   Longitude: -124.018159
