Description: Phoenix District BLM and BLM in Pinal county managed by the Gila District are lifting their previous fire restrictions on July 31st. BLM Lands managed by the Colorado River District (S. Mohave, La Paz and Yuma counties) will remain in restrictions until they receive more widespread moisture. For details and updates, click here or here for a map of BLM Field Office boundaries.

The camping area within the 3,500 acre long term visitor area is dotted with mesquite trees, creosote bushes, and palo verde, a desert landscape which contrasts delightfully with the cool waters of the lake. The visitor area is geographically situated to provide wonderful scenic vistas of the surrounding Colorado River basin. Visitors enjoy a spectrum of water-related recreation, from fishing and swimming to boating and windsurfing. Additional facilities include an area for performances and dances, and ramadas for shady picnics.

Location: Exit I-8 and follow AZ 24 north about 22 miles to the turnoff on Senator Wash Road. Turn onto Senator Wash Road and follow it about 2 miles to the South Mesa area where there is a visitor contact station. The long term visitor area is on the California side of the Colorado River.
