From Cedarville travel north on the byway to Modoc National Forest/Warner Mountains with opportunities for scenic driving, rock collecting, camping and hiking. North of Alturas is another section of Modoc NF, explore the forest on the California Back Country Discovery Trail road with opportunities for fishing and boating at Big Sage Reservoir. Explore the BLM lands east of Upper Lake along the Nevada border.
