From Clovis travel northeast into the forest and north to adjacent Yosemite National Park. Numerous forest campgrounds are within an hours drive of the national park. Explore the forest on the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway leading to campgrounds, hiking/biking trails, several lakes, and scenic views. The lakes have opportunities for camping, boating, fishing, swimming, and hiking.

Hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding in any of the several wilderness areas; includes Ansel Adams, Dinkey Lakes, John Muir, and Kaiser. For OHV enthusiasts the Sky Ranch Road area north of Bass Lake, the Dinkey Lakes area, and the area east of Courtright Reservoir have OHV trails. National Forest maps include elevation shading (no topographic contour lines), hiking trails, service roads, campgrounds, other recreation sites, water features, points of interest, regulations, and contact information if you need permits or additional information before you head for the great outdoors.
