The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Vale District welcomes you to Malheur River Country. This map and the following information are designed to help you enjoy your visit to your public lands in southeastern Oregon.
Malheur River Country is a diverse area offering a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Forested peaks, rugged canyons, large reservoirs, colorful wildflowers, striking geologic contrasts, and historic pioneer routes are waiting for you to explore and enjoy.
This map covers the area of eastern Oregon from the Wallowa Whitman National Forest south to Lake Owyhee and the Owyhee Breaks. Includes the Oregon Trail from Idaho through Baker City; and west to the Malheur county line. In addition to roads, water features, township and range, and ownership, this series highlights recreational opportunities such as camping, picnicking, fishing, rockhounding, hiking, and scenic overlooks.
The Pacific Northwest Recreation Map Series is jointly created by the Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service.
