PLIA operates a sales outlet at the Three Rivers Petroglyph Site Visitor Center. This location provides information and sells educational products, publications and maps.
Located on US-54 between Carrizozo and Tularosa, Three Rivers is a site of great historical importance to the area. Showcasing over 20,000 unique petroglyphs left by the Jornada Mogollon culture, whose members inhabited the Tularosa Basin, this spot is one of the densest concentrations of rock art in the state of New Mexico.
The Bureau of Land Management maintains the lands and facilities here as a designated recreation site.
Amble through the interpretive trail and see the beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert, and the petroglyphs the landscape has inspired. Camp overnight at one of several tent or RV sites, or travel up the road into the Sacramento Mountains and stay in the foothill campsites.
This is an outstanding cultural landmark and should be at the top of the list for any travelers coming to White Sands, Ruidoso, or travelling through Carrizozo.
