Trails Illustrated maps feature in-depth trail and mileage information, topographic terrain, public land boundaries, OHV approved areas, and campsites.
This map is an in-depth guide to the trails of the Pecos Wilderness and the Santa Fe and Carson National Forests nearby. This large area of New Mexico is known for its mountainous alpine terrain and wildlife, making it one of the prime backpacking destinations in the Southwest. Unfortunately, large portions of the forests covered by this map have been affected by the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire in 2022.
The obverse covers the north half of the Pecos Wilderness and beyond, extending from the headwaters of the Pecos River north to Picuris Pueblo along NM-75. The area covered includes all of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from Santa Cruz Lake to the west and Morphy Lake and the Mora Valley to the east.
The reverse side covers the southern portion, showing the Pecos Wilderness south to the Pecos National Historical Park along I-25, and from west to east, covers Santa Fe to Las Vegas. The Dale Ball Trails and other trails outside of the Santa Fe National Forest are not covered in great detail.
1:63,360 scale (1 inch=1.0 mile) with 50 ft. contour interval. Revised 2019, printed on water/tear-proof synthetic material. $14.95.
