Most of Klamath National Forest is west of Yreka and Weed. Travel Hwy 96 through the forest with opportunities for scenic driving, camping, picnicking, accessing the Klamath River, fishing, and paddling/floating. Southwest of Yreka on FR 93 are more campgrounds and numerous trailheads for hiking, horse riding, and usually mountain biking. Northeast of Weed is a section of the forest with scenic driving the byway to access lakes, campgrounds and trailheads. National Forest maps include topographic information(no contour lines), hiking trails, service roads, campgrounds, other recreation sites, points of interest, regulations, and contact information if you need permits or additional information before you head for the great outdoors.
