Travel Hwy 199 east from Crescent City or Hwy 96 north from Hoopa to explore the north half of the forest with opportunities for camping, hiking, fishing at river accesses on the Klamath or Smith Rivers, scenic river views, or access forest roads leading into the forest to campgrounds and hiking trails. From Garberville travel east to the south half of Six Rivers NF; explore the forest roads leading to Ruth Lake. Lake activities include camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, and hiking. The Mad River Ranger District has several OHV trails available for jeeps, ATV's or dirt bikes.
